fter over a year of searching for the primary suspect in a June 2018 shooting at a Scarborough playground which injured two girls, there is now a cash reward for information and public outreach initiative to find him.
"We're not looking for witnesses or for people to testify, this case is ready to go to trial and we're just looking for the location of the suspect," said Deputy Chief Peter Yuen Tuesday.
23-year-old T'Quan Robertson is wanted for attempted murder and aggravated assault in the shooting on June 14th in the McCown and Alton Circle area.
Two girls aged five and nine were shot in the broad daylight shooting, but thankfully with non-life-threatening injuries.
Now police, Crime Stoppers and the Bolo Program are offering a $50,000 cash reward for information on Robertson's location.
Bolo's program also includes promotion of police notices and in Robertson's case, his picture and information will be on display on seven billboards in Toronto.
They'll also share them on social media and a truck will drive around strategic communities with his image and information on the outside.
"Our investigators work tirelessly and to exhaust every investigative lead," Yuen said. "There's no formula as to why now, but I can assure you we have done everything we can very diligently."
Yuen added they believe Robertson is in Ontario and when asked if someone is helping him from getting caught, Yuen said said the "assumption has some validity."
"If you're harbouring, assisting this individual, you will be facing criminal charges," he said.
Bolo Program Director Maxime Langlois said the billboards will be up for three weeks, with the truck going around various communities for three days.
"We have a significant Facebook and Instagram promoted campaign unwrapping at this very moment," he said. "Whatever happens in the next few days or few weeks that needs to be done to make sure that the pressure is at the right place for the suspect and that the right people get to know that T'Quan Robertson is wanted, we're going to do it."
Despite police being unable to find Robertson up to now, Yuen is confident his time is ticking.
"We will apprehend you sooner rather than later, so do the right thing, call a lawyer and turn yourself in," he said.
The 23-year-old is considered to be armed and dangerous. If you see him, call 9-1-1
Police have also arrested a man for allegedly being an accessory after the fact to the shooting.
