Doug Ford has made it official.
He's announced that he will run for mayor of Toronto in next year's municipal election.
NEWSTALK 1010 told you last week, that Ford would make an announcement about his political future at Ford Fest Friday evening.
He did so, taking aim at Toronto's current mayor. "In less than three years, John Tory's increased spending at the city over a billion dollars each and every single year," Ford told his supporters.
Ford promised to put money into infrastructure and end the so-called, "war on the car." He also promised to save taxpayers money.
The former councillor lost the mayoral race to Tory in the 2014 election. He stepped into the race just ahead of the nomination deadline after his brother, Rob Ford, withdrew due to a cancer diagnosis.
