New Ontario PC party leader Doug Ford addressed nearly 2,000 supporters at a rally in Toronto Monday night. The 'Unity Rally" was held at the Toronto Congress Centre.
Christine Elliott, whom Ford narrowly beat out to win the leadership on March 10th, introduced Ford to the packed room of supporters.
Also in attendance, Caroline Mulroney and Tanya Granic Allen, as were members of the Tory caucus.
Ford wasted little time rallying his Ontario PC troops.
" I can see a team that's ready tonight, a united caucus, a united group of candidates, a team that's going to work for each and every one of you."
Ford once again took dead aim at Premier Kathleen Wynne, on the heels of the throne speech delivered earlier in the day at Queen's Park. And every time Ford mentioned Wynne's name, the Premier was soundly booed by his supporters.
"Boy we've got a lively crowd tonight. I can assure you the Liberals are watching us tonight and I can assure you they are worried they are terrified when they see a united party like the PC party."
As for the Liberal throne speech, that was filled with plenty of expensive promises that the party has already acknowledged will run the province an 8 billion dollar deficit once the official budget is tabled later this month, Ford didn't hold back.
"Today Kathleen wrote a lot of cheques with the taxpayers bank accounts. All those cheques are going to end up bouncing. The party with the taxpayers money is over, done. Your days as Premier are numbered."
The Ontario's provincial election is set for June 7th.
