Ontario PC leadership hopeful Doug Ford continued his election campaign making his way down the QEW to Welland Tuesday night.
Ford spoke to a packed house at a rally at the Royal Canadian Legion on Morningstar Ave.
Hundreds of residents listened to Ford address the crowd and then waited in line to shake his hand and take a selfie.
Ford believes he's the man to clean up Queen's Park calling it "politically corrupt from top to bottom." At one point the entire Welland crowd chanted "drain the swamp".
Ford pointed out that Welland has incurred a heavy debt burden through the tenure of the Wynne/McGuinty Liberals spanning 15 years.
"They have saddled each and everyone of you with the most indebted region in the entire world. 320 billion dollars in debt. We're paying 12 billion dollars each and every year. That's 12 billion dollars
that can go to families with autism."
Newstalk 1010 affiliate CKTB asked Ford if the sexual assault controversy surrounding former St.Catharinesl MP Rick Dykstra will impact the local vote.
Ford replied by saying he didn't know Rick well and Dykstra ran into "bumps into the road", but it's not about Rick or Doug, it's about the people of Ontario who want change.
Tomorrow, another candidate Caroline Mulroney will host a lunch in St.Catharines at Johnny Rocco's.
Former MPP Christine Elliott held an event in Hamilton tonight.
PC party members will pick a new leader in March and the Ontario spring election is set for June 7th.
