Doug Ford is back at Queen's Park for the second time since becoming the leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservatives.
He sat down with his caucus for the first time.
As he made his way into the closed-door meeting he, again, vowed to cut waste if elected as the province's next premier. "We can drive efficiencies down at Queen's Park. There's a lot of inefficiencies within the provincial government that we'll be able to find. We're surrounding ourselves with a lot of experts."
He wouldn't commit to having a zero deficit, though. "We'll, let's take a look at it. I want to discuss that with our caucus team and sit down with them. Isn't that a shame? She just lumped another $8 billion on the taxpayers' money, Kathleen Wynne. That's incredible how she takes people's money, the taxpayers' money, and starts buying them all these gifts. It's ridiculous. I've never seen that. We're in debt up to our eyeballs at $311 billion and she wants to lump another $8 billion onto the deficit? That's unacceptable."
Ford says his platform is being worked on and should be released shortly. "We're costing everything out. We have some very bright people costing the platform out. It's going to be a great platform."
He promises it will be balanced.
