A driver is fighting for their life in hospital after a crash in Scarborough that ended with a car wrapped around a tree.
Three others are seriously hurt.
The crash happened around midnight as the white Mercedes CLS was southbound on McCowan south of McNicoll.
Reports from the scene suggest the car swerved to pass another car when the driver lost control.
Police tell NEWSTALK 1010 speed is believed to have been a factor.
