A rather adventurous driver decided to take his car for a spin on highway 403 overnight.
Driving a rental Mercedez, the driver was pulled over near Eglinton Ave. in Mississauga after being caught doing 183 Kms and hour.
The driver was not fully licensed carrying only a G2 permit. He blew by a speed trap before he was eventually pulled over.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt tweeted out a picture of the police read out, puzzled by the driver's lack of attention to speed and safety.
" In a rental car, in a hurry, overnight in the middle of winter. Slippery sections were right over at that zero mark and other driver s aren't expecting to encounter a vehicle to be going double the speed on the same highway, unbelievably dangeorus."
As for as an excuse for the driver's need for speed, there was none.
"There never is a rational explanation, oh sorry officer I didn't realize I was going that fast, it's not an excuse we're going to buy especially when you're going at those speeds. You are absolutely putting yourself and everybody else at risk.
As for the punishment the driver can expect, pretty standard for this kind of speed.
"This is an automatic stunt driving charge, automatic 7 day license suspension and automatic vehicle impoundment."
