A 63-year-old man may never be the same after a piece of equipment flew off a truck and through his windshield.
Police say it's a miracle he's still alive.
This happened on Tuesday afternoon on the QEW near Highway 420 in Niagara Falls.
OPP say a flatbed transport truck was hauling an excavator when it hit a bridge.
Chunks of concrete fell from the bridge. Sgt. Kerry Schmidt tells CTV News a piece of something came of the top of the excavator.
"That object, about a foot square, went right through the windshield and struck the driver, basically in his upper body."
The man was in a coma. Now, police say he's in stable condition.
They're looking into whether the truck's load may have been improperly secured.
