A woman wanted in connection with a deadly hit-and-run in Oshawa has turned herself in.
45-year old Heather Beckett walked into Durham Region Police's Central East Division station on Wednesday morning to surrender herself and her vehicle to authorities.
Beckett is charged with failing to stop at the scene of a crash, as well as failing to stop at the scene of a fatal collision.
It was the early hours of Sunday, December 4th when 21-year old John Bakari was out with another young man riding their bikes on Cedar St., just south of Wentworth St.
A white Honda Civic approached, clipping one of the young men and colliding with the other.
Witnesses claim they saw the car stop, and two people got out to check on the cyclist.
They eventually ran back to their vehicle and fled the scene.
Bakari would die of his injuries later in the hospital, while his friend is expected to recover.
Durham Regional Police say Beckett negotiated her surround through her lawyer.
She has a bail hearing scheduled for Wednesday.
