He drank a half bottle of whiskey after his shift, crashed into a pollĀ and the fled the scene.
And for that, a Peel police officer has been given a demotion.
Constable Wayne Parkins, a 16 year member of the force, pleaded guilty to drunk driving and failing to remain at the scene, in a crash just over a year ago.
His car hit a pole at Hurontario and Courtneypark so hard that it snapped and came crashing to the ground.
The judge gave him a $2,500 fine and a one year driving ban.
However, he'll be allowed to keep his job as a police officer.
Mississauga News reports that earlier this month, at a Police Services Act hearing, Parkins pleaded guilty to discreditable conduct and was demoted for nine months from first class to second class constable.
According to a forensic report, when he crashed his car, Parkins would have blown at least twice the legal limit.
