A Durham Regional Police officer has been accused of discreditable conduct, in a case her lawyer calls the most ridiculous he's ever seen.
Constable Beth Richardson faces a police tribunal on Monday after taking a cat from a home in Oshawa.
She was called to the home to do a welfare check on a female who had been using drugs.
Her lawyer, Joe Markson, was on Moore in the Morning on NEWSTALK 1010. He says the cat was in bad shape. "The kitten was just kind of lost at sea in that home," he says. "When Richardson saw the kitten...it cried out for help."
The plan was to take the cat to the Humane Society after a trip to the vet.
The owner's boyfriend called police and accused the officer of theft.
She gave the cat back and could now be demoted if found guilty.
