Durham Regional Police have launched a campaign aimed at cutting back on the number of people hit by vehicles.
Do The Bright Thing is a campaign surrounding the time change in the fall, and the fact that days are shorter.
Officers handed out 'hundreds and hundreds' of flashing LED lights to pedestrians at the GO Transit station in Ajax. Pedestrians can hool them on their napsack or their clothing, making them more visible to passing drivers.
Two years ago, police handed out reflective arm bands.
But this goes a step further.
"You got to be seen. If you're a pedestrian out there, we have to figure out a way to get you seen, because even if you are following all of the rules, sometimes you aren't seen." says Sgt Bill Calder at Durham Regional Police.
