This is the exact reason why police will generally say, "there is no such thing as a routine traffic stop."
It was just before midnight in Oshawa on Wednesday night, when two Durham Regional Police officers pulled over a driver, suspected of being impaired.
It happened on a small street near the 401 and Simcoe.
But while stopped, the driver became agitated, and jumped on the gas with the officers partially inside the vehicle.
He eventually fell out, after only a few feet, suffering minor injuries to his leg. But, the vehicle did a U-turn and headed towards the other officer.
Both cops fired their guns, but no other injuries were reported.
The suspect took off, according to police, "at a high rate of speed." They're now looking for a 21-year-old man from the Toronto area.
His name isn't being released, nor is the make and model of the vehicle they are looking for.
