Durham's Police Chief is emotional, using words like "hateful" and "repulsive" to describe a picture shared in a private Facebook group.
The group is made up of mostly retired Durham officers.
The picture is a drawing of stick-figure police officers, one with a gun, one with a baton. They seem to have a man on the ground. That man is the only one in the photo with a brown face.
Scrawled across the top are the words, "my dad is my hero."

Chief Paul Martin has launched an investigation. He told CBC News, "We've worked so hard as a police service to reach out to our community and to create a sense of inclusion, not only within the service, but in the community."
Martin called the post, "disappointing to an incredible level."
A memo has gone out to officers warning that anyone who shares this kind of thing will be investigated and disciplined.
The drawing is said to have originated in the U.S.
