It was video posted to social media that led to charges against a 33-year old mother from Durham Region.
Allegations are the mother was driving down a highway with her 3-year old daughter in her lap, letting the tot take the wheel.
Authorities say the accused filmed it all and posted it online.
Investigators with Durham Regional Police were tipped off late last month by a concerned viewer to two separate pieces of footage, that allegedly show 2 separate incidents.
Const. George Tudos says the video also shows the vehicle traveling 'at a high rate of speed' and that no one in the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt.
"Its one of those incidents where you shake your head," Tudos says.
"We're just glad nobody was injured."
Cops tracked the accused down last week an arrested her.
The mother, who lives in Beaverton, faces 9 charges, including careless driving, driving with a child not properly secured, and failing to provide the necessaries of life.
Police say the video and the name of the mother will not be released, in order to protect the identity of the child.
Child welfare advocates with the Durham Region Children's Aid Society are investigating.
