The streets are less busy than they normally would be.
And your commute takes you a fraction of the time it normally would.
But wait. Easter Monday is not actually a stat holiday.
In fact, when we sent a reporter to work out of our Queen's Park office, we were shocked to learn that the doors were locked.
So why are public sector workers and provincial politians off today?
"Becase they can." says Employment Lawyer Howard Levitt. "Because there's a vaneer of it being a holiday, so they take the opportunity to not work."
But today should really just be a regular day for public and private sector workers, alike.
"We don't have pay overtime it's not a stat holiday in any respect. Some unions may have it in their collective agreement, but even that would be rare." says Levitt.
We reached out to a number of provincial politicians only to get the answering machine with each try, so we couldn't even ask them why they weren't working.
