A letter has reportedly gone out to school boards across the province asking them to review their team names, logos, and mascots.
Specifically, they're being asked to take a look at their use of indigenous symbols and take measures to address anything that could be seen as offensive.
According to a report by the Toronto Star, Education Minister Mitzie Hunter wrote a letter to boards of education chairs this week.
A spokesperson for the Toronto District School Board told the paper that they no longer use any indigenous team names, logos or mascots.
The Peel District School Board says it reviewed all its schools last school year and that changes had been made.
