The family of a man struck and killed in Scarborough on Sunday say it's "like a sickness."
They say drivers just don't care about seniors' safety.
The family of Miguel Candia spoke to the Toronto Star after the 72-year-old was hit by a car on Kingston Road near Morningside.
The Star reports, out of 23 pedestrian deaths this year, Candia is the 16th person over the age of 60 to die.
Police say the driver in this case is not facing charges. Candia was crossing mid block.
It's worth noting that from the site of his death, the Star says it took a reporter 15 minutes to walk to the nearest crosswalk at Morningside and get across the street. The light gives pedestrians less than a minute to cross.
Advocates have been calling for more safe crossing points and the city has been adding some as part of the new Vision Zero plan.
