Peel Regional Police are appealing to the public for help in identifying an elderly woman who was struck by a vehicle in Mississauga Sunday afternoon.
Const. Akhil Mooken told NEWSTALK1010 police and paramedics were called to the scene on Airport Road at Morning Star Drive at about 2:20 p.m.
He says the woman was attempting to cross Airport Road at a crosswalk with the appropriate signal when a car turning northbound onto the roadway struck her.
The woman was believed to be conscious when emergency crews arrived at the scene, but she was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.
The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.
Const. Mooken says investigators are looking for help in identifying the senior. She's described as South Asian, and was wearing a hip length brown fur coat and red rimmed glasses at the time she was struck.
