Remember when there was actual excitement surrounding a Jays home opener?
This year, a little of that buzz is missing.
For the first time since the early 2000's, the Jays failed to sell out their first home game of the season, and there could be a good reason for it.
The jays are expected to stink.
"I don't picture them winning 70 games. if they get past that, maybe somewhere in the mid-70's," says Bryan Hayes, a host at TSN 1050. "The fact is, the past two years, they were pretty terrible as well."
It's a rebuilding year, and the Jays head office has made any bones about it.
But there are several high profile prospects waiting in the wings, with Vladamir Guerrero possibly suiting up as early as this weekend.
"We've heard about this kid for a couple of years now, and he's the number one ranked prospect, pretty much unanimous across the board." says Hayes.
And more good news: It'll be easier to buy tickets, and there's cheap beer.
"I think that's probably where you're going to see the most activity and most excitement. People trying to get in line to get cheap beers!"
For the die hard fans, it's going to be a "wait till next year" kind of season.
