Fall maintenance on the Gardiner Expressway this month will now only involve a curb lane rolling closure in the overnight hours, rather than a full closure of the highway.
Toronto staff have decided to reschedule some of the work to the spring, because of the dropping temperatures. The initial plan was to close all westbound lanes overnight tonight, to repave a stretch of the highway, but staff say it is now too cold for the asphalt to properly bond.
Instead, the only maintenance being done is a sweep of the curb lane to clear out the catch basins.
A sweeper will make its way along the lane in either direction this month, causing a rolling closure from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
One westbound lane will be affected on the nights of November 13, 14, 27 and 28.
