A female pedestrain was struck and killed as she crossed the road in Mississauga Thursday night.
Peel Regional Police received a call around 8:40 for a pedestrain struck in the area of Mavis Road and Knotty Pine Grove at around 8 p.m.
According to Const Harinder Sohi, the victim didn't survive the impact.
"Emergency personel arrived on scene and she was pronounced at the scene."
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and according to Sohi, is being asked to turn themselves in.
"We're asking the driver of that vehicle to attend a police station and come speak to our officers."
There is no early description of the vehicle that fled, but Sohi is hopeful that body shops in the area will be on the lookout for noticeable damage of any cars brought in.
" There's going to be some obvious damage, we've been asking the auto body shops to keep an eye out in the next couple of days if they see anything unsual come in to give us a call."
Peel investigators were on scene speaking with witnesses.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Peel Regional Police or Crime Stoppers.
