A female pedestrian was seriously injured late Saturday afternoon after she was struck by a TTC streetcar in midtown.
The woman was struck near the intersection of Yonge and St. Clair around 5:30 p.m. and pinned underneath the streetcar.
Paramedics were on scene and eventually assisted her out and rushed her to a local trauma centre with serious injuries.
A woman was on the streetcar at the time of the collision and told CP24 what she saw and heard as the impact occured.
"We were just coming up to the intersection and all I saw was a blonde head like come right in front of the streetcar, and the driver tried to stop but the person had run really close up in front of the streetcar so they couldn't stop in time."
Another witness, who was sitting in the front of the streetcar described the driver's reaction after the collision. "I felt sorry for him. I saw him and he went like this(arms raised) I felt sorry for him because I thought he saw was what happening."
