An independent committee has released its final report that examines the culture at St. Michael's College School.
The report was ordered in December by the school's Board of Directors after allegations surfaced involving sex assault with a weapon, sex assault, and assault. Videos of an alleged locker room hazing made the rounds online
Seven boys were charged, at the time.
The committee conducted over 70 in-person interviews and voluntary, anonymous surveys with parents, staff and students.
It found that hazing in an extreme form is not a significant problem at the school but it will be addressed.
It also found that bullying is a systemic issue and that a comprehensive strategy to address it must be drafted.
St. Mike's says it has already begun to address many of the themes in the report which include developing a comprehensive bullying prevention and intervention strategy, a review of various policies and guidelines, as well as re-organizing the athletic and co-curricular programmes including its football programme.
The football programme returns to St. Mike's this Fall instead of the Fall of 2020 as they first reported.
