Investigators say the fire that tore through a 90-year old high school in Toronto's west end was an accident.
What caused the inferno at York Memorial Collegiate, near Keele St. and Eglinton Ave., is still not clear but arson has been ruled out. A new report from the Ontario Fire Marshal's office says the flames started inside a wall in the auditorium.
It also calls the blaze a 'single event fire.' That's important because firefighters packed up and left the school after giving the all-clear. Crews had spent hours beating back the flames. They were called back early the next morning because smoke started pouring out of the auditorium again.
Toronto Fire Chief Matthew Pegg says he will not comment on what might have gone wrong until he's had time review the OFM report.
York Memorial Collegiate is still closed for repairs.
Toronto's public school board had to re-open a school in Etobicoke to hold their classes while the damage is fixed.
