After several hours, fire crews were able to knock down a huge industrial fire in Etobicoke. It broke out after 5 o'clock in the afternoon Tuesday at an auto wrecking yard on North Queen street near Atomic Avenue. Black smoke could be seen billowing from the scene for several kilometres.
Crews had to move heavy debris around to get to hot spots.
Witnesses reported hearing an explosion just before the 2-alarm fire broke out. Area roads were closed for hours. Nearby buildings were evacuated. Fortunately no one was injured.
