There are some concerning numbers in a report on false fire alarms are in Toronto.
The data, gathered by CBC Toronto, shows firefighters responded to more than a dozen false alarms each day last year. The vast majority, 80 percent, were in Toronto Community Housing buildings.
Over 4,800 false alarms tied up resources last year.
Generally, three fire trucks are sent each time an alarm goes off.
Property owners are fined about $1,400 for each false alarm.
That amounted to $6.7 million last year. By the end of 2018, $440,000 in fines had not been paid.
