Police in Durham Region say they have a disturbing trend on their hands.
Over a span of two weeks in November, five high end SUV's have been snatched out of the driveways of their owners.
In each case the MO is the same: the vehicles were taken without the keys during the night.
Police believe the thieves are somehow intercepting the key fob transmission, and then reprogramming a fob that they have, which can work the vehicle.
According to cops, the practice is called "relay theft".
None of the vehicles have been recovered and police don't have much to go on when it comes to a suspect. They will only say a dark coloured SUV was seen in the area, around the time the vehicles are believed to have been stolen.
