Quebec Independent Investigations Bureau has been called in following a shooting incident in Montreal in which one police officer and four civilians were shot early Sunday morning.
A 33-year-old man was shot by police when allegedly returning gunfire around 2 a.m. following a complaint of noise and loud music near the Old Port of Montreal.
One of three city police officers at the scene were allegedly shot at by the suspect, who was taken to hospital.
Three other civilians were reportedly hit by bullets in the exchange of gunfire.
The conditions of the injured weren't immediately known.
Eight investigators have been assigned to the case.
Quebec provincial police are providing two forensic technicians to support the investigation.
