Five teens are facing charges after allegedly robbing a man at knifepoint after he left a place of woship in the city's west end.
Police say the 33-year-old man had just left the place of worship near Keele Street and Eglinton Avenue around 12:15 p.m. June 1 when he heard someone behind him yell.
He turned around to see the five teens, but did not recognize any of them and kept walking.
Someone from the group yelled again and this time when the man turned around one of the teens grabbed his hands while others pulled him down to the ground from behind.
It's alleged at this point a knife was shown and demands were made for the man to turn over his valuables, including his cell phone, and the password to the phone.
The man did so and the teens fled the area.
Four of the suspects who range in age from 15 to 17 were arrested and charged wtih robbery and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose later that day. The fifth suspect, an 18-year-old man was arrested and charged with robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failure to comply with recognizance on June 9.
The five males cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
