A flash freeze - combined with freezing rain - and a little light snow - made for some pretty significant crashes in the GTA.
Late yesterday evening the roads turned to ice and provincial police report as many as 70 collisions in a span of two-and-a-half hours.
In one crash on the 410 at Derry Road as many as 20 cars were involved and 15 people were sent to hospital with minor injuries.
Another crash on the 427 and Eglinton saw 5 people sent to hospital.
Environment Canada had issued a weather advisory, warning of hazardous driving conditions.
