The transportation safety board says that a flight crew is at fault for putting a plane at risk of a runway overrun at Billy Bishop airport in 2014.
The TSB says a Sky Regional Airlines plane from Montreal to Toronto had to be steered toward a taxiway to prevent running off the runway.
After an investigation, officials say the plane touched down about 800 feet from the threshold of the runway but did not slow down in a "timely manner." As they approached the end of the runway, the flight crew steered the plane toward the last taxiway to prevent an overrun, according to the TSB.
Officials say the flight crew didn't stick to standard landing technique, only lightly braking when they first touched down, "likely in an attempt to make a smooth landing."
The TSB says that the plane didn't meet proper approach criteria because it was "well above the desired approach path."
There were no injuries or damage to the plane.
