The Toronto and Region Conservation Authority has issued a flood warning for low-lying areas of the city and surrounding areas.
It's in effect through to Monday, August 3rd.
After heavy downpours this weekend, the rising water levels are a growing concern.
Rehana Rajabali tells our media partner CP24 that over the last 12 hours, between 15 and 70mm of rain has fallen in and around the Greater Toronto Area.
"This last round of rainfall, brought alot of rain to the Don watershed and so we upgraded our earlier message to a flood warning earlier today, because water levels on the Don River in and around the Bayview extension, just south of Todmorden Mills, as well as close to the DVP, were starting to rise, so we were expecting to see some flooding on Bayview extension and wanted to let any pedestrians or cyclists using that to be aware and to take alternate routes."
You're advised not to go near rivers or streams, which will have high and fast-moving water flows.
Parents and guardians are reminded to keep children and pets far way from these waterways.
Experts also warn that even if the rainfall starts to taper off, it still takes time for all of the water to make its way through our river system.
There's still a 60 percent chance of showers and a risk of a thunderstorm this afternoon.
More rain is in the forecast for this evening and after midnight.
