The provincial government has taken the wraps off their vision for public transit in Toronto.
Highlights of the plan include an "Ontario Line", replacing the downtown relief line, which would be extended to Ontario Place and the Ex grounds.
The new plan would also link the Ontario Line to the Science Centre on Don Mills.
The government hopes to have that up and running by 2027, and suggest it would cost $10.9 billion, and would use "off the shelf" trains which could be driven without operators. The province says the TTC currently uses custom trains for their lines.
There would also be an extension of the Yonge Line into Richmond Hill at $5.6 billion, and the Eglinton Crosstown LRT would be extended in the west, all the way to Pearson. Much of that extension would be buried underground. That would cost $4.7 billion.
