PC leader Doug Ford took a break from the campaign trail Saturday, but not without a message for Ontario's beer lovers.
According to a campaign press release, Ford plans to bring back 'buck-a-beer' pricing that was last seen in 2008.
"For too long beer consumers have been forced to pay inflated prices for beer in order to increase the profits of big corporations," Ford said in the release. "We're going to allow price competition for beer and this will save consumers money."
Under Ford's promise, the minimum price floor for the sale of beer in Ontario would be lowered to $1.00 plus deposit per bottle.
The PC's cite the change made by the Dalton McGuinty-led Liberal government in 2008 that increased the minimum price floor, making a 24-pack $25.60 plus deposit.
Ford says his party is promising to deliver competition, increased consumer access and altogether, lower beer prices.
