Police in Hamilton have arrested a 60-year-old woman, who used to work as a bank manager, for allegedly stealing $1.7 million.
The Major Fraud Unit claims the woman worked at the CIBC Branch on Highway 8 in Stoney Creek, and between 2008 and 2015, is alleged to have funelled money from customers accounts.
Police say she was allegedly targetting the accounts of people who were recently deceased, and the elderly.
"We find the elderly don't track their day-to-day banking online." says Det John Murphy from Hamilton Police.
Both large and small withdrawls were allegedly being made.
The woman is facing charges of Fraud over $5,000, possession over $5,000, and criminal breach of trust.
She'd resigned from her post in 2015.
