He was Toronto's hero for years and after being team-less for several months, he finally found a home with the Atlanta Braves.
Now, former Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista has been granted his release.
The man Toronto fans affectionately called JoeyBats signed a minor league deal with the Braves in mid-April and was later promoted to a starting role at third base.
But the former home run king struggled in his at-bats, slipping to a .143 average and only hitting two home runs.
Braves general manager Alex Anthopoulos announced Bautista's release Sunday morning.
Anthopoulos was the Jays' GM during their 2015 playoff run, but stepped down immediately after the postseason.
Bautista, 37, is best known for his go-ahead bat flip home run during a pivotal playoff game on October 14, 2015, that helped the Blue Jays win the ALDS against the Texas Rangers.
