Toronto Police have charged a former teacher and hockey coach with the alleged sexual assault of one of his students.
The alleged abuse goes back to 1970.
James David Hicks, now 76-years-old, faces a charge of sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age.
Hicks taught in Toronto from the 1970s to some period in the 1990s.
Police are not yet able to say which schools he worked at or which hockey league he was a coach in.
"Leagues change, names change, organizations change and trying to find that information dating back to 1970 can be a little bit challenging," police const. Caroline de Kloet explains. "They (investigators) want to make sure that everything's confirmed before we release that information."
Police are concerned there may be other victims.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 416-808-5404 or to contact Crime Stoppers.
