After Saturday's shocking concession speech from Premier Kathleen Wynne, she remains busy on the campaign trail Sunday with only four days to go before Ontarians head to the polls.
Wynne is making numerous stops in the GTA - including one at the year-old El Bocho restaurant in Richmond Hill - where she is trying to drum up support for her Liberal candidates, rather than herself.
"A strong group of Liberal MPPs can do enormous good. They can be the voice of small businesses like El Bocho," Wynne said. "A strong group of Liberal MPPs can keep the NDP or Doug Ford accountable and hold them to account in the ideas that they bring forward."
Just hours after her announcement Saturday, the Liberals released a brand new commercial to sum up their new messaging.
"On June 7, voters will choose a new government," it says. "If Doug Ford wins a majority, he'll slash health care and education. If the NDP wins a majority, they'll hike taxes and kill jobs."
"But a Liberal vote can keep Doug Ford or the NDP from forming a majority. A Liberal vote keeps the next government from being too extreme."
Speaking to NEWSTALK1010's Dave Trafford Sunday morning, reknowned pollster John Wright says Wynne's concession speech was a hail mary move.
"It's gotta be just heartbreaking for a lot of the Liberal candidates who are out there who have been knocking on doors," he said. "I've never seen anything like this. It's quite remarkable."
He added that NDP leader Andrea Horwath should take a sunnier tone in these final four days of the campaign.
"Change for the better, the sun's going to ride - despite the fact people don't like the policies which deal with labour and back-to-work legislation, there's a tone that's been in that campaign that she can capitalize on."
