When you send your daughter off to school, you expect them to learn and develop their social skills, plan their future, not be recruited into a life of prostitution.
NEWSTALK 1010 received an update from Durham Police, about a 16-year-old girl in Pickering who was allegedly being pimped out.
The investigation started back in February, and police originally charged two 16-year-olds in connection with the case.
But now, four more teens have been arrested. Most of them are also from Pickering.
Even more shocking, is the fact that police believe they were using a Pickering-area high school, to recuit new victims.
Durham Regional Police Constable George Tudos says they had another location they were using as well.
"The offence itself and the services that were offered had nothing to do with the actual school, however they were recruiting young students, or trying to anyway, and doing their business in the Whitby area."
Police say this investigation is still open, and there could be more arrests and more charges.
Here are the details on the people charged:
A 17-year-old Pickering female has been charged with: Offering Sexual Services for Consideration Near School; Procure a Person Under 18 Years; Obstruct Peace Officer and Obstruct Justice. She was released on a Promise to Appear.
