The Fraser Institute has released its report card on Ontario's elementary schools.
The report card ranks the academic performance of more than 3000 schools across the province based on nine academic indicators from the results of annual province wide reading, writing and math tests.
In a news release director of School Performance Studies at the Fraser Institute Peter Cowley says "The Report Card is a valuable tool for parents and educators, who can use it to find schools serving similar students elsewhere in the province that consistently perform better. By doing so, they can access success demonstrated by other similar schools so to improve their own school’s performance."
The release says "Province-wide test results and the report card help spotlight successful schools across the province that can serve as an example for others to follow."
Avondale elementary alterative school is the top school in Toronto as well as the second ranked school in the province.
