Most of the Gardiner Expressway and Don Valley Parkway will be a no-go zone for cars for a big chunk of the day on Sunday.
The annual Becel Heart & Stroke Ride for Heart takes over the Gardiner and DVP from 2 a.m. until roughly 3 p.m. The Gardiner will be closed from the South Kingsway to the DVP and the DVP blocked from the Gardiner to Hwy 401.
That could complicate trips for tens of thousands of fans headed to the Rogers Centre as the Blue Jays welcome the Yankees and Fort York hosts the Field Trip music festival.
Police anticipate big backups in the downtown core and encouraging people to use transit to get around Toronto.
But there is a major subway service disruption to consider as well.
Signal upgrades on Line 1 mean there won't be any trains running between Sheppard West and St George stations. Citing 'numerous on-street construction activities', the TTC says it will only be running shuttle buses between Sheppard West and Lawrence West stations. The transit agency says service is being added to bus and streetcar routes to get to the Yonge part of Line 1 or Line 2.
