Toronto Police say a 16-year-old girl has been sexually assaulted by a stranger in the place she should feel safest, at home.
Police say the girl was was home alone at an address near St. Clair Ave E and Danforth Rd at abut 3:45 p.m. Tuesday when a man she didn't know let himself in.
Const. Craig Brister could not say on Wednesday how the man got in or what his intentional intentions in entering the home were. But once inside, the man allegedly sexually assaulted the girl.
"It's absolutely something that's very concerning," Brister tells NEWSTALK 1010. "That's why we've put this information out to the public and hoping that we can generate some information (from) someone who may have been in the area who may have seen the suspect that they can come forward so that we can make some effort to identify him."
The suspect is described as an Asian, 30-40 years old, standing 5'10-6' tall with a medium build, black hair and a clean-shaven face. The man was wearing black suit jacket and grey shirt.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 416-808-7474 or to contact Crime Stoppers.
