Talk about taking a wrong turn.
A car managed to drive its way onto the tracks at the Maple station on the Barrie go line Friday night.
The incident happened just after 7 pm. forcing a holding pattern of trains and passengers trying to get home during the evening commute.
Metrolinx spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins was clearly baffled by the manouvering of this vehicle.
"That took some effort on behalf of the driver to get to exactly that place to be on the tracks like that."
Transit safety officers along with York Regional Police managed to lift the car off the tracks and out of harms way.
What isn't clear according to Aikins is how and why the driver ended up on the tracks in the first place.
"It's troublesome that a vehicle would be in that spot that's for sure."
Once we get the car out of the way, Barrie #GOtrains will be on the move. #winterdriving pic.twitter.com/KX2JcWjjNn
