We are getting a sense of what Toronto's gun buyback program could cost tax payers.
It largely depends on how many guns are turned in but a report from the city suggests it could be up to $750,000.
Council will vote this week on whether to increase the police budget by that amount to cover the costs of the program.
It runs through the end of this week.
Police are paying $200 for long guns and $350 for handguns.
As of the end of last week they'd collected 1,235 guns, 419 of which were handguns.
The three week program was approved by council in the wake of last summer's shooting on the Danforth.
