A poster found near an East York elementary school is being investigated as a hate crime.
Toronto police spokesperson Meaghan Gray told our sister station, CTV News, that members of the public sent police a photo of the poster and that the Hate Crime Unit is investigating.
It was found at a park near Parkside Elementary School, in the O'Connor Drive and Woodbine Avenue area.
The poster encouraged people to join the Alt-Right movement, which is widely seen as anti-Semitic and white supremacist.
The poster reads, "Hey white person, tired of political correctness? Wondering why only while countries have to become “multicultural”? Figured out that diversity only means “less white people”?"
Beaches-East York Councillor, Janet Davis, tweeted, "This hate is unacceptable in our City. Staff are removing the posters immediately and investigating who is responsible."
