As forecast, the heavy rains came and went in Toronto, the GTA and most of Southern Ontario.
By early Sunday morning, over 35 mm had fallen in Toronto and slightly more near the lake.
The rain caused ponding on many GTA area highways, leading to numerous collisions according to the OPP.
But major flooding was the issue in Mississauga early Sunday morning.
Torbam Road between Steeles Road and Derry Road was submerged by water stranding some motorists.
Three people were rescued from their vehicles, one of which was fully submerged.
The driver of that vehicle was standing on the roof of his car when emergency crews arrived on scene.
Another vehicle was half submerged.
No injuries were reported.
That stretch of road remains closed to traffic.
The big concern Sunday morning, according to Environment Canada, will be the wind.
"We're expecting some gusts around 60 km/hr, maybe a little bit stronger up to 70 km/hr closer to the lakes. It's looking like it could be a very messy day."
