The road maintenance department at city hall expects this to be the busiest construction season Toronto's ever seen.
Officials were out on Monday to present their plan to repair and replace pavement, sewers, bridges, and watermains.
Roughly $1 billion has been committed to dozens of projects, with about 60 cents of every dollar being put into re-paving and reconfiguring roads and streets.
There are several major projects planned for this summer, including work on four bridges over the Don Valley Parkway, which will affect the traffic below from July to October.
Work will be done to revamp the Gardiner Expressway from Jarvis Street to Cherry Street.
Bloor Street will also receive an overhaul stretching from Bathurst Street to Spadina Avenue.
Overall, there are 140km of re-paving to be done, along with 200 killo-metres of sewer and watermain work.
All of those projects are set for about 600 roads across Toronto.
Crews will work extended or overnight hours on more than 60 of those job sites.
The warning from the Mayor is that this summer will see some arteries reduced to one lane each way, to accomodate the work.
The promise is that the city will make sure your alternate routes are clear of any planned construction.
