A benefit concert supporting Kids Help Phone has been cancelled in Toronto.
The concert, scheduled for Sunday at Echo Beach, has been scrapped due to singer Demi Lovato's hospitalization.
The 25-year-old was rushed to an LA hospital yesterday after an apparent drug overdose.
RBC was the sponsor of the show and says in a statement emailed to NEWSTALK 1010 "RBC sends our thoughts to Demi and her family. We are inspired by her transparency as she confronts these issues head-on.
While the RBCxMusic benefit concert has been cancelled, the need to support mental health initiatives is greater than ever. RBC remains committed to Kids Help Phone and we believe that music has the power to heal. In that spirit, we will continue to support Kids Help Phone in the expansion of its Live Chat service to help ensure that young people have access to the right care at the right time. If you are a young person and are struggling with any issue big or small - or have a question about a given topic, please call Kids Help Phone at: 1-800-668-6868 or chat with a counsellor via Live Chat."
It's not clear what drug may have caused Lovato's overdose.
She has been very open about her struggles with drugs and alcohol. She had gone to rehab for a cocaine addition and was believed to have been sober for six years.
Lovato is reportedly in stable condition and recovering.
