Investigators with the Lincoln County Humane Society carried out a search warrant inside a beleaguered St. Catharines animal clinic Wednesday.
Officials would not comment on the state of their probe of the Skyway Animal Hospital.
"We are being very thorough with our investigation process and we can't speculate on when this investigation is completed. We appreciate the public’s patience while we continue to address the evidence and concerns brought forth,” OSPCA Inspector and LCHS Executive Director Kevin Strooband said.
The hospital's owner, Dr. Mahavir Rekhi had his licence suspended by the Ontario College of Veterinarians after being found guilty of professional misconduct. Rekhi had been caught on video abusing animals in his car--smacking them, forcefully holding them down, swinging them around.
Rekhi plans to re-open his animal hospital in February when his credentials are re-instated.
Skyway Animal Hospital has attracted protesters in recent months, some of them pelting the building with eggs and feces.
